Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Expert IUI Care

A Less Invasive Approach to Fertility Treatment

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a commonly used and highly effective fertility treatment that can help increase your chances of conception. At Full Circle Fertility, we specialize in offering tailored IUI treatments to support individuals and couples struggling with infertility. IUI involves placing specially prepared sperm directly into the uterus during the woman’s ovulation period to facilitate fertilization. By bypassing the cervix, IUI increases the chances of sperm reaching the egg and enhances the likelihood of pregnancy.

Understanding the IUI Process

IUI is a straightforward and minimally invasive procedure. It is designed to increase the chances of conception by placing sperm directly into the uterus, where it can more easily meet the egg. Here’s a breakdown of the process:

Ovarian Stimulation

To enhance the chances of successful fertilization, hormonal medications are prescribed to stimulate the ovaries to produce one or more mature eggs. This controlled stimulation ensures that eggs are released at the optimal time for insemination.

Monitoring

Throughout the cycle, you will be closely monitored with ultrasounds and blood tests to track the development of the eggs and the timing of ovulation. This allows our fertility specialists to plan the insemination procedure precisely.

Sperm Preperation

Once sperm is collected, it is processed in the laboratory. This process, known as sperm washing, removes dead or poor-quality sperm and concentrates the healthiest, most motile sperm, increasing the likelihood of successful fertilization.

Insemination

The prepared sperm is then carefully inserted directly into the uterus using a thin catheter. The insemination is done during the woman’s ovulation window to ensure that the egg is present and ready for fertilization. The procedure is quick, typically taking just a few minutes, and is usually painless, though some women may experience mild cramping.

Pregnancy Test

Approximately 10-14 days after the insemination, a blood test is conducted to measure hCG levels and determine whether implantation has occurred. If the test is positive, your healthcare team will guide you through the next steps.
